The three B2B media PROCESS, PharmaTEC and Schüttgut have bestowed for the third time (at the exhibition "POWTECH / TechnoPharm 2010") the Innovation Awards. They were looking for the most innovative equipment and procedures in seven categories. The jury honoured the winners on the first exhibition evening during an official ceremony.

GIG Karasek has achieved the award in the category “Plant Engineering and Process Components” for the Plate Molecular Still. The highlights of this new development are arranged heated or cooled panels and low maintenance. GIG Karasek has combined the principle of the plate falling film evaporator with the short-path distillation. A pilot plant for customer applications is ready for testing at the company´s development centre for Evaporation and Thermal Separation Technology in Gloggnitz (Austria). Due to the economic equipment technology, the company will open new applications for many users. These include, to name just a few examples the recovery of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, vitamins from oil, the concentrating of emulsifiers etc.
